How to Change Factions in Soulframe

You are not locked to your first Enclave forever. Per community catalog Enclaves, switching has no cooldown and does not delete progress on factions you leave. This makes faction hopping viable for targeted gear acquisition.

Requirements

• Complete The Torment Stag and unlock the faction system (overview).
• Rank 3 on your current Enclave (needed to buy Sacred Shimmer from the Favours shop — 5,000 faction standing per catalog).
• Craft the target Enclave Talisman at Tuvalkane, equip it, then talk to that Enclave's leader.

What happens when you switch

• Standing and Rank on your old Enclave are retained — they do not carry to the new shop, but you can swap back without redoing that faction's grind.
• Shop stock and Sparrow's Tales follow your currently equipped Enclave.
• Unlocked cosmetics and titles generally stay on your account; rank-gated recipes for the new Enclave require grinding that faction's Standing again from zero.
• Faction-specific Pacts (if any) are tied to your standing — swapping factions does not revoke an already-crafted Pact.

When to switch

• Your build needs a Rank 5 recipe only sold by another faction — once you have the recipe crafted, you can switch back.
• You want a different Faction Tale boss farm (Agari route) to target specific drops.
• You have completed all rewards on your current faction and want a fresh progression track.

When to stay

• You are close to the next rank reward — grinding Standing from zero on a new faction takes time.
• Your Garren Rood farm route depends on current tales.
• You use faction-specific shop consumables regularly and do not want to lose access mid-progression.

Cost and planning

• Sacred Shimmer costs 5,000 faction standing at the Favours shop (Rank 3+) and is consumed when crafting a Talisman — farm enough standing before committing to a switch.
• Talisman recipes require mid-tier materials (scrap-brass, chordstone) — check Farm Planner for the full ingredient list.
• Switching back to a previous faction requires crafting that faction's Talisman again from scratch.

Confirm Sacred Shimmer cost and Talisman recipes in the Faction UI after each Preludes patch. Costs have shifted in past hotfixes. If you switch factions and immediately switch back, you will need to craft the Talisman again — there is no instant rejoin without a fresh Talisman.

Switching strategy

Before you commit to a faction switch, verify the following checklist: confirm your current Enclave rank and Sacred Shimmer stock, review the target faction's recipe shop for Rank 5 items your build needs, and ensure your current Sparrow's Tales chain is complete — abandoning a faction mid-tale resets progress on that chain.
